One of the most common questions we get from customers who are shopping for Two Post Lifts is, “What’s the difference between symmetric and asymmetric two post lifts”?
If this was a question you have wondered about, then here is your answer;
Symmetric lifts position the vehicle centered, so that approximately the same amount of the vehicle is in front of the posts as is off the rear.
Asymmetric lifts position the vehicle further back on the lift, allowing you to open the doors easier. Figure about two thirds of the vehicle ends up being behind the posts on an asymmetric lift.
Bend-Pak also rotates the colums at a 30 degree angle, so that when you open the door, you don’t hit the corner of the post.
This also allows you to open the doors even further. Most manufactures have symmetric or asymmetric lifts. One or the other.
Being front-heavy, most vehicles actually balance out well asymmetrically, but some vehicles don’t. Rear engine cars, vans with equipment in them, extra long crew cab pick-up trucks. These vehicles balance out better symmetric.
